Head CMC Drug Product - Parenterals (Senior Director) (all genders)

You strategically and operationally ensure the development, alignment, and execution of formulation and process strategies for parenteral drug products (small molecules and biologics), from early clinical development through in-market products / life-cycle management. In this role, you lead and develop a team in line with Dynamic Shared Ownership (DSO) and collaborate closely across global development and Product Supply interfaces. YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• You lead a team of ca. 25 scientist and technical staff located at Wuppertal, Berlin and Berkeley (USA) and  are accountable for the development, alignment, and implementation of formulation and process strategies for the parenteral drug portfolio (small molecules and biologics) across the product life cycle
• You enable your team to develop and assess high-quality, value-adding parenteral drug products for novel active ingredients and line extensions aligned with medical needs and marketing requirements
• As a member of the Drug Product Strategy and Leadership team you are allocating budget and resources, setting priorities, and providing line management for the department  in close alignment within CMC Drug Product
• You continuously develop the team based on the needs of global development teams and Product Supply product teams, following DSO principles
• You define the future functional strategy and evolve competencies, capabilities, and technologies while aligning strategies and priorities within Drug Product Development and with Product Supply
• Your team develops safe, robust, and economical processes for parenteral drug products, including process development, scale-up, validation, and transfer to internal and external manufacturing plants
  You team supports pre-clinical and clinical DP manufacturing across internal and external facilities and drive cross-functional collaboration for late-stage clinical and commercial development
• You and your team ensure successful submissions and product launches through high-quality technical documentation, regulatory compliance, and strong internal and external interface management (including academia, supported by Scientific Leads)

WHO YOU ARE

• You hold an advanced degree (preferably PhD) in pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, or a related field,
• You bring long-term experience (10 years+) in the pharmaceutical industry in drug product development and/or MSAT (preferred for parenteral dosage forms), covering both chemical molecules and biologics
• You demonstrate a proven track record of successful people leadership in drug product development and/or manufacturing
  In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality standards (e.g., ICH, FDA, EMA) sets you apart
• You stand out with strong project management skills, including capacity, timeline, and resource planning
• You have demonstrated ability to lead and develop global teams, drive organizational development, and enable continuous improvement
• Ensuring efficient resource allocation across sites, products, and projects
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, role-modelling, cross-functional collaboration, ability to work in matrix organisations and aligning strategies and priorities across functions define you
• Fluency in written and spoken English rounds off your profile; a good command of German is an advantage
