Senior System Engineer (m/f/d)

As a Senior IT System Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering cutting‑edge technologies and solutions that support global engineering and construction activities at Boehringer Ingelheim. You will be responsible for managing engineering applications, ensuring full compliance with GxP regulations, and enabling seamless integration of tools and workflows across the organization. Tasks & responsibilities

  • Define, develop, implement and maintain engineering applications (e.g., Siemens COMOS, Autodesk products, SolidWorks) as global IT systems in a regulated environment.
  • Design and maintain integrations between engineering tools (e.g., COMOS, AutoCAD, Revit) and enterprise systems (e.g., Azure AD, SharePoint, ERP/PLM systems, Power BI dashboards).
  • Collaborate with key users, IT teams, and external partners to prioritize and plan release work packages, ensuring accurate effort estimation and effective resource allocation.
  • Lead small to medium-sized projects or serve as a key contributor in large project teams, fostering strong relationships with stakeholders across IT and business functions.
  • Provide 2nd‑level IT support for engineering applications (primarily COMOS) and project teams, troubleshooting issues and ensuring continuous system availability.
  • Stay informed about new technologies and industry trends to support IT and business teams with innovative, future‑ready solutions.
  • Create training materials, deliver onboarding sessions and support project teams with best practices for engineering workflows.

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, combined with fluency in both English and German.
  • 7 plus years of experience and In-depth knowledge of Siemens COMOS modules (e.g., Engineering, Process, Operations, DDMS, COMOS Web, Engineering workflow) and experience in COMOS configuration, customization, and database management.
  • Knowledge of CAx tools (e.g., Autodesk, Revit, SolidWorks,  Navisworks) would be beneficial.
  • Experience in regulated environments (e.g., pharmaceutical, food/beverage industries) with knowledge of GxP regulations and Computerized System Validation.
  • Practical IT and programming knowledge (API, SDK, LISP, C#, .NET, Teigha, Python, PowerShell).
  • Hands‑on experience with ServiceNow (project management, incident and change management, IT service delivery processes) as well as foundational knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure/AWS), including IAM, security policies, and data governance.
  • Demonstrated expertise in utilizing Atlassian tools such as Confluence and Jira for effective project documentation, collaboration, and agile workflow management.

The minimum gross annual salary for this position is € 64.170 per year (full-time) according to the classification in the collective bargaining agreement for the chemical industry. Depending on professional experience and qualifications, we offer an overpayment.
