The Langenfeld site focuses on the development of novel cell therapies based on pluripotent stem cells (iPS cells). iPS cells are generated in our in-house GMP facility and subjected to stringent quality controls. New GMP development processes aim to enable controlled gene editing of iPS cells as well as their differentiation for innovative cell replacement and cancer therapies.Located between Cologne and Düsseldorf, Langenfeld offers a high quality of life and excellent transport connections within one of Germany’s most attractive metropolitan regions.

To strengthen our Research & Development team, we are looking for an engaged R&D Project Leader / Senior Scientist (m/f/d) at the earliest possible date.

Your Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Scientific Responsibility

• Lead publicly funded research and development projects, including scientific, organizational, and administrative accountability
• Prepare project plans, grant applications, and scientific reports
• Present project results to clients, project partners, and stakeholders
• Provide scientific guidance and mentoring to students and project team members

Research & Development

• Develop and optimize methods for targeted genetic modification of iPS cells
• Advance differentiation processes for cell therapy applications
• Develop and optimize analytical methods in collaboration with Quality Control
• Execute client projects and manufacture cell products under R&D conditions
• Organize and support daily R&D laboratory operations
• Prepare scientific publications and presentations

GMP Implementation & Quality

• Transfer iPSC-based workflows into GMP-compliant processes
• Author SOPs, manufacturing instructions, and testing procedures
• Support risk assessments, deviations, CAPAs, and change controls
• Participate in investigations of quality events and laboratory deviations
• Conduct GMP training sessions and contribute to the Quality Management System (QMS)

Your Profile

• PhD in Biology, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Medicine, or a related life science discipline
• Strong knowledge of developmental biology and pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) biology
• Proven experience in targeted genetic modification of pluripotent stem cells
• Several years of hands-on experience with iPS cells, particularly in directed differentiation
• Demonstrated experience in independent project management
• Leadership and/or organizational experience
• Scientific excellence demonstrated through first-author publications
• Structured, responsible, and results-oriented working style
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Experience in a GMP-regulated environment and/or the field of cell therapy is an advantage
• Excellent communication skills in an international environment
• Fluent English language skills, both written and spoken
• German language skills
