Main responsibilities

  • Independent planning, execution, analysis and documentation of bioreactor cultivations, including implementation of new technologies and scale-up to commercial scale.
  • Develop data models and implement machine learning/artificial intelligence approaches to generate actionable insights for bioprocess development
  • Lead interactions with the data science group of Sanofi R&D and other upstream process development groups and implement the learnings.
  • Leverage statistical approaches (e.g., Design of Experiment or Multivariate Data Analysis), ensuring optimal data structure
  • Lateral leadership of upstream experimental teams.
  • Author development reports and ensure successful handover of developed processes to pilot plants and other Sanofi sites.
  • Support lab heads as deputy upstream lead in interdisciplinary project teams, with other departments, sites, and external companies
  • Apply and optimize Environmental Sustainability by Design principles into development of new products.

About you

  • Experience: Hands-on experience with bioreactor cultivations (e.g., Ambr250, stirred-tank reactors); experience in data science, statistical design of experiments, and process modeling; familiarity with digitalization and implementation of new technologies; experience with scale-up and media optimization is a plus; basic knowledge of bioanalytics and process analytical technology (PAT) is beneficial; programming skills in Matlab, Python, or R are an advantage.
  • Soft and technical skills: Positive, open-minded personality with a high degree of flexibility and a can-do mentality; conceptual and creative thinker with strong analytical skills; proven ability to work effectively both independently and within multidisciplinary teams; excellent communication skills and the ability to manage own timelines to meet project goals; trustworthy and accountable with a strong sense of ownership.
  • Education: Master's degree in biotechnology, bioprocess engineering, data science, or a related field.
  • Languages: Certified German at level B2 or higher is required; proficiency in English (written and spoken).

The salary range for this position is :€74 628,00 - €99 492

Final compensation will be determined based on demonstrated experience, skills, location, and other relevant factors. Employees may be eligible to participate in Company employee benefit programs.
